The management handling of climate change is also directly linked to local knowledge applied in the society. The enforcement of prohibitions (things that are considered taboo or mystical) by communities could be used to reduce the impact of climate change, such as Nyabuk Gunung in Java, which aims to prevent erosion and landslides due to logging forest. Another example is the prohibition of cutting down forests in East Sumba Regency unless preceded by ritual worship of Marapu. This local knowledge could be used by researchers, government, and other agencies as a mean to socialize efforts to prevent climate change and at the same time preserving tradition that has been prevailed in the local community.
